Juan's journey began in Argentina, where he pursued mechanical engineering. His academic path took him to Milan, where his passion for robotics led him to earn a master's degree focused on robotics in 2022. This advanced education provided him with a solid foundation in automation and robotics. After completing his degree, Juan spent a year working at a Milanese company that developed automated solutions for various industries. During this time, he developed his skills in creating machines that served specific purposes, preparing him for the next step in his career.

What's your role at R3 Robotics?

Juan: I joined R3 Robotics on May 15, 2024, as a Junior Automation Industrial Engineer. In this role, I design and implement control systems for specialized machinery, working closely with robots, motor drives and other actuators, commanded by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). My responsibilities include integrating tools such as conveyors and motors with sensor technologies and safety systems, ensuring both precision and safety while focusing on scalable solutions for battery upcycling.

One of my key projects is the EVBL project, where I program PLCs and establish the communication protocols for synchronizing all field devices. This involves not only technical programming but also ensuring that the systems work seamlessly together to achieve optimal performance. Additionally, I collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows, troubleshoot system issues, and apply industry best practices for high efficiency and compliance.

What motivated you to join R3 Robotics?

Juan: I was motivated to join R3 Robotics in Luxembourg to continue learning and challenging myself. I saw this opportunity as a chance to grow professionally in various areas. The initiative and goals of R3 Robotics resonated with me, driving my desire to succeed. Reflecting on my experience, I can say that since joining R3 Robotics six months ago, there hasn't been a single day where I haven't learned something new.

This journey has made me grow both professionally and personally. The dynamic environment and the innovative projects have pushed me to expand my skills and knowledge continuously, making every day an exciting learning experience.

Cheers for sharing, Juan. Let's boost some battery value!

Say hello to Khachatur, a passionate engineer who's been on an exciting journey in the world of electrical engineering. Having completed his PhD in Engineering at the University of Luxembourg, Khachatur is all about pushing the boundaries of technology. His main gig initially? Figuring out how to seamlessly integrate battery energy storage systems into power grids.

Before diving into his doctoral studies, he spent nearly four years as an electrical engineer, gaining hands-on experience across various industries. He was the go-to guy for building and testing custom electrical systems, always on the lookout for new ways to solve tricky problems.

What’s your role at Circu Li-ion?

Khachatur: I am a Cell and ESS Engineer at Circu Li-ion. Currently, my main focus is the diagnostics and discharging of batteries and battery energy storage system development. I am taking care of the development of our micromobility battery pack diagnostics and discharging machine that will help increase the number of upcycled batteries and increase the safety of the operation. Also, I am leading the development of our battery energy storage system made of second-life cells and modules that we automatically extract from end-of-life batteries.

What motivated you to join Circu Li-ion?

Khachatur: First of all, the vision of battery and cell upcycling and the ambitions of the company attracted me. Second, I like being hands-on and solving problems. So, the upcoming challenges associated with the big vision of the company made me curious to find solutions and solve them. The decision to join a startup was natural to me as I have worked both in big traditional companies and small startups and I knew that startups move faster and are more fun.

Thans for sharing, Khachatur. Looking forward to the journey ahead!
